To review and inform our members about federal, state and local levels of government motorcycle legislation and to promote favorable motorcycle legislation regarding the following:
§ Insurance
§ Licensing
§ Modifications
§ Bans
§ Restrictions
§ Emissions
§ Noise Levels
To improve road conditions making roads safer for motorcyclists by:
§ Alerting the D.O.T. to dangerous roadway conditions.
§ Encouraging compliance with covered load laws on public highways.
To help prevent accidents through education and:
· Promote motorcycle awareness programs for all motorists.
· Promote rider education programs for motorcyclists.
· To work towards insurance reductions through motorcycle rider education and reduce motorcycle accidents
To promote positive community relations by:
§ Active participation in activities benefiting the common welfare of the community.
§ Active participation in events sponsored by, and or on behalf of, charitable organizations.
To promote political involvement of motorcyclists by:
§ Informing members how elected or appointed government representatives voted on legislation affecting motorcyclists.
§ Encouraging members to register and vote.
§ Encouraging qualified members to run for public office.
§ Encouraging members to write their representatives at federal, state and local levels, on all issues concerning motorcycles favorable or unfavorable.
§ Attending motorcycle events and distributing information on current status of motorcycle legislation. Reporting on elected officials at all levels of government, who approve or disapprove of said legislation.
§ To act as an information source to help discourage discrimination against motorcyclists.
To act as a legislative liaison between motorcyclists and government authorities, police departments, government agencies, insurance companies and other organizations.
To report and discourage biased news reporting of motorcyclists.
To present and promote a better public image of motorcyclists by:
§ Keeping ABATE of N.Y. Inc. sponsored events orderly and peaceful.
§ Sponsoring family events such as swap meets, beneficial fundraiser runs, memorial runs, poker walks and rodeos.
